Mary Murphy

IS MULTI-ORBIT CONNECTIVITY READY FOR THE MISSION

Ms. Murphy was born in Seoul, Korea and spent most of her childhood in Germany as a military dependent. She has distinguished herself through a multifaceted career spanning military service, civilian expertise, and academic achievements. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 2003, branched Signal. Her early military career involved leadership roles in signal operations, including a deployment to Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

 

Transitioning to the Army Reserve in 2008, Ms. Murphy simultaneously pursued civilian endeavors, becoming a Forensic Biologist and DNA Technician for the Denver Police Department, providing expert testimony and analysis in criminal cases. Concurrently, she served as a Strategic Command Communications Officer in the Army Reserve and obtained a Master of Science in Pharmacy: Forensic DNA and Serology in 2015. She transitioned to the Army Space Operations field (FA40) in 2013.

 

Ms. Murphy has since held key positions in both civilian and military capacities. As a Department of the Army Civilian, she led communications planning for the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. She served as the Space Superiority Course Manager for the Space and Missile Defense Center of Excellence. She then served as the SATCOM Strategic Operations and Integration Division Chief within Space Delta 8 of the United States Space Force and, as a Lieutenant Colonel, held the position of Military Director of the Office of the Chief of Space and Missile Defense.

 

Ms. Murphy is currently the Chief of SATCOM Operations at USSPACECOM.
